Why you should NOT make a New Year's Resolution

It is a very popular trend for people to start New Year's resolutions during this time of year. While setting goals to better yourself is a great idea, New Year's resolutions are not worthy of your time. You can easily look up some statistics on how many people actually stick to their resolutions. It's a very small percentage. Most resolutions are broken by February. Why? I believe it's because the goals are set with the subconscious intention of being broken. The words "New Year" are tied to a specific part of the calendar; January. So, by setting a New Year's goal you are setting yourself up to focus on the goal during the new part of the year. But what about the rest of the year? Also, think about what kind of message you are sending yourself by saying, "I'll start that on January 1st." If you know you want to do something, why not start right away?
